TOPIC: -
LEANING AND TRUSTING IN THE LORD JESUS
TEXT: - LUKE 5:5; PROVERBS 3:5 AND PROVERBS 16:9
Introduction
“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we
have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless AT THY WORD I
will let down the net”. Luke 5:5.
It
is obvious from the response of Simon that they were in a state of despair. But
when Jesus spoke, they trusted Him and refused to act based on what they had confirmed.
They did not dwell on their past experience but they trusted in the word of
Jesus Christ. Do you trust the Lord? How many times do you allow your human
understanding becloud the promises of the Lord for your life?
More than ever before, this is the time to
trust the word and the promises of God and lean totally on him.
We
shall look at this topic from two perspectives:

lean on and trust the
Lord Jesus

CONCLUSION
Trust
in the Lord, the object of all grace, the God of all grace, for spiritual
blessings, and all the needful supplies of grace. Trust in Him at all times; in
times of affliction and temptation. Trust in His person for acceptance, in His
righteousness for justification; in His blood for pardon; in His fullness for
supply; in His power for protection and preservation; and in Him alone for
salvation and eternal life.
From
God alone comes true prosperity, true help. He knows the right way to the right
ends. He knows what benefits us. He is able to free us from that which does
harm; therefore, it is our duty and our safety to place our confidence wholly
in Him, and to trust not in our own judgment. Do not try to figure out or
analyze every details of God’s instruction, but we must place our belief in
God’s wisdom, love and strength.
May
God help us, Amen.
