Topic: How to Parent a Child to Become an
Ambassador of Christ
Texts: 2 Kings 5:8; Ps. 127:3,
2Cor. 5:20; 2Tim. 3:15; Deut. 6:6-7; Ps. 119:11; Ps. 73:24; 1Tim. 4:12; Joshua
1:8
THE STEPS TO
BE TAKEN IN ORDER TO ACTUALIZE IT.
- a. Lead them to Christ – How?
b. Have a regular Bible Study with them
on a separate day different from the Church Bible study day.
c. Teach them the word embedded in songs that
can be easily remembered and reflect the lesson.
d. Let them memorize the scriptures.
2. (a) The Holy Spirit will use it in instructing
them when necessary.
(b) Prevent them from feeding their spirit man
with junks and let them know why, through regular counseling.
3. (a) Psalm 73:24 – Counseling is a vital part
of a successful
parenting
process – parenting is 60%, counseling 40%
(b) Be
a role model to him/her – lead by example.
- (a) Teach them how to pray and prove to them the efficacy of prayers
by sharing
different testimonies of what God is doing and what He can do, with them.
(b) Pray for them too. Keep decreeing on them
whatever you want to see in their future.
(c) Be visualizing where you want to see them
in future, in your imagination.
- 1Tim. 4:12 – Let no one despise your youth but set the believer an example in speech and conduct in love, faith and purity – As parents and guardians, build their self-esteem in love and purity.
6.
a. Teach
them how to be self-disciplined because you will not always be with them. At a point in life, their teachers and
parents will no longer be with them – can they stand on their own without any
monitoring and behave well.
b.
Draw
up a family rules and regulations in collaboration with them. Let each of the
rules have a commiserate punishment suggested by them. Print it boldly and
paste it somewhere after which you should start implementing the rules.
- Each individual has his/her personality type – it simply means, the various aspects of a person’s character that make the individual different from other people.
Personality Types
- Sanquin Extrovent
- Choleric
- Melancholy
- Phlegmatic Introvent
Each
personality type has its strength and weaknesses. Parents and guardians, with the knowledge of
the child’s personality type, will be able to know the type of behavior
differences to expect from different children he/she handles based on their
personality types. It enables you to understand the children better and your
interaction with them will be more meaningful and fruitful. It makes the
parenting exercise easier and it will be used to their advantage.
- Avoid having just anybody who can influence your children negatively to live with you.
Conclusion
All
these mentioned must be done consistently until the child can stand on his own.
If there is any break in between, there might be a relapse and the expected
goal might not be achieved.
As
you go on, check your results against your input in order to re-rasterize when
necessary and at last he/she will be an ambassador or Christ everywhere he/she
finds himself or herself and in all circumstances, monitored.
