Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it become the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake
Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days 2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth
A) We Must Not Expect To See An Immediate Reward For All The Good We Do
nor must we always confine our efforts to places and persons which seem likely to yield us a recompense for our labors. The Egyptian casts his seed upon the waters of the Nile, where it might seem a sheer waste of corn. But in due time the flood subsides, the rice or other grain sinks into the fertile mud, and rapidly a harvest is produced
1) Let Us Today Do Good To The UN-thankful And The Evil
2) Let Us Teach The Careless And The Obstinate
Unlikely waters may cover hopeful soil. Nowhere shall our labor be in vain in the Lord.
It is ours to cast our bread upon the waters
3) It Remains With God To Fulfill The Promise Thou Shalt Find It
4) He will Not Let His Promise Fail
4) His Good Word Which We Have Spoken Shall Live
5) Shall Be Found, Shall Be Found By Us
Perhaps not just yet, but some day we shall reap what we have sown. We must exercise our patience, or perhaps the Lord may exercise it. After many days says the Scripture, and in many instances those days run into months and years, and yet the Word stands true let us 6) Mind God’s Promise Will Keep That We Keep The Precept And keep It This Day
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost
B) Though The Life Of Jesus Had Been So Short
He was quite ready to go when the end came. He had done each day the work given to Him to do that day, and when the last hour of the last day came there was nothing that He had left undone.
6) We Ought To Learn The Lesson And Live As Jesus Lived
7) So As To Have Every Part Of Our Work Finished When The End Comes
8) But What Was It That Was Finished When Jesus Bowed His Head On The Cross
A famous picture represents Christ lifted up, and beneath Him an innumerable procession of the saints advancing out of the darkness and coming into the light of His cross. There can be no doubt that He had such a vision of redemption while He hung there, for we are told that He endured the cross, despising the shame, because of the joy set before Him
It is finished was therefore a shout of victory as He completed His work of suffering. He went into the grave, but not to stay there. He came again, a glorious conqueror; and because He lives, all His people shall live also.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth
There lives a glory in these sweet June days
Such as I found not in the days gone by,
A kindlier meaning in the unclouded sky, In every act of ours, in every feeling and every volition and every thought, we are conscious of a self which expresses its aims and meanings. Every idea of ours points beyond itself, every volition binds us in decision, and every experience gets meaning by our attitudes. The most immediate task which life demands from us in the understanding of ourselves and of others is, therefore, to interpret our ideas, to draw the consequences of our will, to appreciate the attitudes, to measure them by higher standards
J.S Prayer My Creator, I pray that I may not only have the desire to know life, but the assurance to live it. Help me to understand that my earthly possessions are not the measure of my life, nor my body the boundary of my living. May I reach for the high standards that are free, without limit, to all. Amen.
